MAINTENANCE AND REMOVAL

Marv’s Tree Service is pleased to offer our customers tree maintenance advice. Care for urban trees often requires elimination of certain branches for safety and aesthetic reasons. Forest trees have one another to use for support and stability. Urban trees are expected to stand up against the wind and wet snow. This increases chances for untimely breakage. Pruning trees regularly can minimize the damage sustained throughout the year. When accessing the health of a very mature tree and devising a plan for trimming or removal, a possible target in the event of failure should be thoughtfully considered. Trimming a tree should also enhance its vigor or improve tree structure.

MANAGEMENT OF RISK AND ASSESSING A MATURE TREE FOR TRIMMING OR REMOVAL FACTORS TO CONSIDER

  • Could my neighbor’s property be at a possible risk?
  • Do I park my car underneath for shade purposes?
  • Does the tree expose pedestrians in a high traffic walkway?
  • Is the tree going to hit the house?
  • Is the tree in an area where my children or grandchildren play?
  • What type of tree is it?
  • Will my homeowners insurance cover the removal of debris from the home and garage? or is there a cap on how much it will pay?

Even though we cannot prevent Mother Nature from rearing her ugly head of destructiveness, regular maintenance pruning can aid in removal of horizontal limbs and hazardous deadwood.

The goal of Marv's Tree Service is to preserve trees but not at the sacrifice of safety.

SOIL CONDITIONS AND ROOT GROWTH:

  • Are the roots entering the drain pipe in search of water?
  • Has there been construction in the area of the tree root zone that may eventually lead to the structural failure of the whole tree?
  • The portion of the tree above ground is only 50% of the whole tree system. It is easy to forget the importance of the root system when it cannot be seen. The root system should not be overlooked because it provides water, nutrients, and structural stability.
